The last time I knitted something was 33 years ago when I was a young girl still living with my parents and expecting a baby.
One of my Aunts would visit every Monday evening with her dog and her bag of knitting. My mum and my Aunt would teach me how to knit and read patterns. The very first thing I knitted was this gorgeous circular lace effect shawl for my baby.
I stopped knitting after my baby was born as life became very busy.
I am now 52 years old, was diagnosed with breast cancer and had to have a mastectomy. Life has very much slowed down now and I find myself sitting thinking back to those Monday nights and wishing my mum was still around. At times of sickness I think everyone always wants their mum no matter how old you are.
So I decided to pick up those knitting needles again. I ordered my first kit of the reversible snood which came complete with needles and a very informative and helpful booklet describing everything I needed to know.
I have to say I have absolutely thoroughly enjoyed myself just sitting knitting. I plan on purchasing more wool and kits and look forward to hopefully improving my knitting skills and learning so much throughout 2021.
So thank you! I have found my love of knitting again.
